don't skimp on the clutch, get a TAV2 torque converter on ebay, with a 10t sprocket. then make a jackshaft with like a 22t sprocket and 17t sprocket and run that to your 54t sprocket. that'll get you 31mph with your 20" tires, with plenty of torque. if you mod the governor a bit for like 4400 rpms, then you'll hit 37mph.

the TAV2 has a jackshaft on it for the driven clutch and 10t sprocket, but then you would need to make a simple additional jackshaft with a couple of pillow block bearings and a keyed shaft with the 2 additional sprockets, to lower your gearing even more. well worth it if you want the extra torque for off-road riding.

here's one i made for one of my earlier karts:

if you have a jackshaft on the motor plate that isn't in the way of using a TAV2 (comet 30), then you could possibly put the 22 and 17 teeth sprockets on that. could you show us a picture of your jackshaft?

do you plan to invest in a TAV2 torque converter? if not, then we can stop making suggestions based on that. it would really help your performance though.

Yeah i was goin to buy the tav2 if this is it http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=230931656618 and that plate won't fit on there with the tav2 so what exactly else woul i need after the tc im kinda confused on how to make a jackshaft i know that it is two sprockets to lower gear ratio or somethin

what plate won't fit? (be more specific) yes, that is the TAV2 that will work great for you. people use thos all the time with honda clone motors like the harbor freight predator. what else would you need? (be more specific). upgrade your axle sprocket to like a 72 tooth or bigger and you won't need a jackshaft.

not sure what you're confused about in making a jackshaft. i provided pics and sprocket sizes, and everything. tell us what part you are confused about. please be more specific in your responses.

and like i said, if you can upgrade your axle spocket to a 72 tooth, you won't need a jackshaft to lower your gear ratio (as long as you have a 10 tooth or smaller sprocket on the clutch/torque converter).
