So, i've been lurking around in these forums and i saw the site for the free plans, Viper stx. My question is, are they worth it? I know its free plans but i mean is it worth the time to build it or should i just design something on my own?

A little background. I have a 2 free 6.5 briggs motors "old snowblowers" and ton of piping for CHEAP! "my work" and i have welders, pipe benders, chop saws, band saws, etc etc "again work" for my use.

I am looking to build just a small kart to blast around in and do "small" off-roading (empty fields, small hills) and blast around in some snow (i live in wisconsin)

I am also building this with a tight buget (this is my first kart after all).

So would a Viper STX be ok for me?

PS has anyone built one, how much modding did you do, where you happy with the design and layout, what would you change.

thanks
rob

personally if i had all those resources i would build my own (design i mean). The engines are a big part of the cost so you can take about $150 off of your cost along with the material cost. What exactly is your budget. I would not try to take that in the snow i think you would wind up soaked from all the snow flying up in your face (get something that sits higher of the ground.).

do it build your own!:wai:
Building your own is always the way to go if you can that way it is more unique and truly your go-kart.:auto:

If you have never built before, get a set of plans, you don't have to copy it but you can use them for: front end geometry, (most important) dimensions and how to assemble the rear end. It's cheaper this way then to build one that comes out a flop or close to it.
