What do I have? Can I stretch it & add roll bar?

Does anybody know what kind of frame this is?

I’d like to length it a bit by unbolting the halves, putting something in between to add a couple inches & bolting then back together with longer bolts.

This is a terrible picture of me, but it shows why I want to lengthen it...


There’s not much room to move the peddles forward & the steering wheel is really low. I did read about the 4:3 L:W ratio and this kart is currently right at 4’ between the axles & 3’ at the front spindles. I’ll also be putting on taller & wider rear tires.

I was thinking that maybe I could build a roll bar into whatever I decide to use to space the frame halves? What size tubing would be best for a roll bar?

Have no idea what kind of frame it is. But that being said you can do pretty much anything you want as long as you support it enough. As for the rollbar that's almost a necessity if you do stretch it. Would help support the added length. I would use the same size tubing that the chassis is built out of. Just my 2 cents as a fabricator it can definitely be done. As for the technical details of what it would do to handling and such that's really all new to me so maybe someone else can weigh in on that.

A proper go kart seat where your rear is down on the frame rails will help a lot with the CG too.

No reason you can't cut and stretch it. Just sleeve the tubes and weld em back together.

My opinion? Take the motor off and trade it for something bigger or crappy that you can stretch its cool the way it is (im cool with it being unboltable just make the center section strong)

If what you are looking for is more leg room you could potentially just move the engine further back and then move the seat back as well that might give you enough room to add a roll bar as well. Looks like you can only get a couple more inches though with that.

you cannot add a roll bar!

simple reason: you asked if you could.. means you do not have the required experience to build a proper one.

Sorry, it's indeed that simple; it's not meant as an offense, it's just a complicated process to get right.
it's technically possible to make a roll bar, sure;
but that requires a skillset that cannot be delivered via the internet.
NOT having that skillset, you can still add some tubes.. but they at worst give you a false sense of safety and instead of protecting the passenger
would only cause more and worse injuries in case of an accident.

So don't!

The original 'cage' it had is a brush guard btw,
not a roll cage!
it prevents from low hanging branches hitting your face and not much more.

Anyways, if you stretch it (which you certainly could do) some added bracing will certainly help,
but as has been said already.. leave that toddler kart alone,
flip it and get a kart that was actually meant to move an adult rider or two.
much less hassle, much less sketchy and in the end maybe even cheaper ;)
