This is probably a dumb newb question, but what is supposed to hold the clutch on the shaft? I bought the go-kart used and the clutch looked pretty new, but there is nothing (other than the tension of the chain) that secures the outside portion of the clutch from slipping off. The inner portion of the clutch is secured with a couple alan screws.

Should there be a lockring or something? Is this something I can buy at a regular hardware store?

A lot of them need a bolt on the end of the shaft to hold them in place. Take pics and show what you got.

Try using Jerry's method with the butt hair and duct tape.

Seriously though, probably just missing that c clip or something.

well, maybe not useless...but it could solve your problem.

you just have to slide the clutch onto the shaft, then a screw and washer go onto the shaft which keeps the clutch from flying off.

is that what you were refering to?

Normally you want to remove the butt hairs, not put them back on! :arf:

Well, I realized I was missing the steel bushing plus the c-clip at the end, so I ended up just buying a new clutch. Had it running today
