From what ive been able to gather online so far, its made to sound like i have to use top of line super expensive go kart specific oil. Is this true? Im looking for something i can pick up at an autoparts store if possible. I just dont want to do damage to my engine.

Never had a kt100 but I ran the cheap power sports ( for motorcycles and boats) 2 stroke oil from the autoparts store through my 05 kx 125 and never had a problem( that thing was a gas guzzler) it was about 3 to 5 dollars a quart. They have good motocross specific two stroke oil that shouldnt be too much maybe around 10 dollars a quart

yeah, at first i just planned on throwing in some regular old two stroke oil, but from what ive read, ive learned that these kart engines are MUCH higher performance engines and you cant use just anything.

I was hoping a racer or ex racer would be able to clear things up for me.

Use Yamalube 2R @ 20/1 ratio.
Anything other than this runs a high risk of catastrophic failure.

Nice I hear castrol 2 a and 3a work good. Any motocross 2 stroke is much higher performance than a kt100 they have higher compression liquid cooling reed valves and other HP stuff the kt 100 wishes it had.

Don't mix oranges and apples...
A KT100 is not a motocross 2 cycle, nor was it designed to be.
Completely different class of engine and can not/should not be compared.

When I raced with the 100cc I used super M and race gas till one day I ran low and going to a race so I bought premium pump gas and a generic two stroke oil and mixed it 16 to 1, beleave it or not it ran better that way so after that that's what I ran

What do you guys think about TC-W3? I've heard lots of anecdotal evidence that it burns cleaner and lubricates better than run of the mill 2 stroke oil.

I'm on several 2-stroke forums and have several of them including a 1972 Kawasaki H2 Triple 750 pro-street stage-2 porting and reeded (I've owned since 1978). Among others a CR500, DT400, IT175, 1962 Suzuki Colleda 150 twin - the list goes on.

Plus-1 on Yamalube on all my 2-strokes for a LONG time.

"what 2-stroke oil to use" comes up all the time. Opinions vary from the expensive synthetics to walmart specials.......
