You can get 2 stroke 49cc Chinese engines for next to nothing & there are aftermarket parts all over eBay for them. As stated above, that 2hp motor you have is above 50cc. I think that you're more than double the cc you're able to run, so you're going to have to get a new one to comply with the law.

Look up common hop ups for the flathead Briggs 5hp engines. Index the spark plug. You can mill the head at home and run a straight pipe for the exhaust but you may have to adjust the richness of the fuel mixture on the carb. Any changes in the exhaust may make the engine run lean.
The gear ratio may burn up the clutch in no time at all.

Maybe you didn't notice but I updated my original post and uploaded more photos. Which is why I bumped it because I wasn't sure if just "Editing" my first post would automatically do it for me.
