Yes,

1) Don't use the gas with flux core because its just a waste of money- (not to be confused with dual shielding)

2) Remember your polarity. When you pop open the cover you should see where to reverse it for flux core welding if it is already set up for MIG.

3) You don't even really need the gas nozzle on the gun when you flux core weld.

4) wire size needs to be the right size rollers and liner

You want DCEP electrode positive for mig and DCEN electrode negative for flux with no gas. Remember mig is normal with a negative ground clamp and flux is reversed with a positive ground clamp

I dont know how that could happen since mig wire is plain metal and flux wire has the flux in the core and not exposed.
