welding using a torch and coat hangers?

also how do they double as welders? also im using it on welding a mount over top of the old one. old one cracked.

well its all about heat, get the area your welding nice and warm, heat up the start of where your bead is going to be, little circles work well, untill its yellow and theres a little bubble or pool, then carefully add a little bit of fillier into that pool, slowly keep the pool moving where you want the bead and add filler wire as you go along, takes a bit of practice.

how do they double? well when you weld with a mig or arc you are heating the steel up as well, its just with electricity.

I have used coat hangers to torch weld before. They are pretty good for what ever steel they are.

Welding and brazing are not the same thing. Welding creates a blended joint where the metals melt together. Brazing is where you coat the joint with a filler of a different metal that doesn't blend with the metal in the parts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brazing

If you're welding with coat hangers I would suggest that you use flux to cut down on oxidation and promote wetting and flowing.

i will have some later today. and it was part done with an arc welder. gonna be painting it also.
