What is a welding training? so, first of all if you undergo welding training it means that you want to be a welder, so what does a welder do? Here are some basic ideas on what a welder do from day to day, a welder specifically joins pieces of metal with metal filler, using heat or pressure, welders also join parts being manufactured, they build structures and repair broken or cracked part, according to specifications. So now that we know what a welder does, we’ll then proceed to welding training, basically all I know about this is that welding training helps plant maintenance workers develop a working knowledge of and learn the theory behind gas and arc welding techniques and heavy equipment operator, also the cutting of iron, steel, pipe, and nonferrous metals. That is what a welder literally trains for I guess, aside from the more advanced stuff. So I conclude that being a welder requires a lot of patience and hard work, as it is not an easy job, and that welding training is tiring but would pay off once you finish it. Any ideas?

Nichole, no disrespect intended.

You're arousing my curiosity. You seem to be a highly educated individual and very knowledgable.Perhaps a tad too serious but I find it very refreshing.

I've been taught long long time ago that a welder is the machine/buzzbox and weldor the guy/gal controlling the machine.

You're correct. Welding is a highly skilled job, requiring a lot of training and practice as well as having a good understanding of metallurgy and science and mathematics in general. Great weldors are as saught after and as highly regarded as brain surgeons.

The fact that we can strike an arc and control a rod does not put us in the same league as your professional weldor.

As far as I know, if you're qualified as an undersea weldor you're set for life and can basically write your own ticket.

Pipe weldors are also a very interesting bunch and very skilled at what they do. These guys can lay down a bead in any position in the foulest of weather, in the worst of conditions and still do it well.

I know everyone is crazy about TIg and Mig but to me stick and OA still make the world goes round, ask any weldor who has worked on an oil or gas pipeline.

Being a weldor is a tough job and I would certainly not be able to make a decent living at it. Competition from Chinese, Filipino, etc. Weldors for international contracts also make it quite difficult to earn a decent wage overseas.

There are some individuals who I've seen that had no training but I regard their skill as exceptional, tho.

I have got but the highest respect for anybody that is qualified as a weldor and practice the art as his primary means of income.

Regards.
