welding sheet metal

i have somw really thin sheet metal that i want to weld to some 1 inch square tubing i dient know if you just put a bunch of spot welds or what????

What type of welder do you have? Whats the actual thickness of the sheet? Generally when you wire weld sheetmetal, you make a series of spot welds, allowing time for the welds to cool. If the metal gets too hot then it'll warp.

Not what I'd call an accurate measurement, certainly not what I'd call "really thin". Do you own a micrometer or vernier caliper?

The reason I ask, is that 1/8" or "a little less" should be a sweetheart with a MIG. Then again, if you're truly talking about thin sheet, say 22ga, forget it, not happening. Use rivets.

Is this metal thin enough to fold by hand?

okay sorry :( i probably shouldent have said really thin its not bendable by hand. I just dident know if all i needed to do was talk weld or if i should lay a beed all the way around. SORRY about that probably should have explained better

Cool. Knowing that, I'd say weld the corners about an inch long on each side of each corner, and then run some 1" beads 6" or so apart along the sides.
