Welding Lifter Bore?

Well im going to my friends today to do some welding and i have done lots of reading on welding the lifter bore. Are their any pics so i know where to weld?? And i am going to prob cut a car valve spring and use it on my valves but idk about that one haha

car valve springs are way to big and way to heavy duty they wont work. 80+lb valve springs i dont even think the thing has enough power to turn the cam to push them up.

You'll find theres serveral guys posting on that forum that build race kart motors for a living and they seem to freely share hard core info and speed tricks they've developed and track/dyno-tested over the years.

it is aluminum - you will need a TIG welder.

I think some of the threads I suggested he research stressed using a Tig for Iron blocks too.

Hah, the intake lifter hole in that picture is broken too.

it is aluminum - you will need a TIG welder.

You can weld aluminum with MIG and Arc also, It would be hard to get in there with a TIG welder.

the mainly "exhaust" lifter bore fails under high rpm so it is needed to be welded for support its really insurance in a way haha

Its a common breaking spot on the briggs flathead. They did a cheap design and only put a small amount of metal around the lifter bores.
