welding chain using arc welder

if i attach some normal steel chain up to both ends of my arc welder and put it where i want it, will it fuse the chain place when i flip it on?

It will melt the Chain where the clamp is and probs blow the fuse
in your house


Are we talking roller chain or link chain

If u are very very lucky it may fuse roller chain but it will be weak

Yea I'm with fowler, all it will do is create a completed circuit, much like what happens when you get a stuck rod whilst arc welding....stuff heats up but not much happens at all really.

You will end up with slight fusing because chain doesnt have perfect contact between links at all time and will arc across these gaps creating a small very weak tack. Certainly not strong enough enough to support the chain itself
