Ok, so our welder goes fine for a little bit but the the wire almost stops coming out, or we weld the tip. Any ideas on how to fix it? Or at least what the problem is?

For starters, when was the last time you replaced the contact tip? They are considered a consumable part and must be replaced regularly for optimum performance.

Secondly (and more likely), when was the last time you either cleaned or replaced the cable liner? After awhile, they build up enough crap in there that the wire starts to really drag. Often, a bunch of the crap in there will work it's way down the liner and clog the tip, causing the wire to jam.

While you're in there, make sure the drive roller clamping pressure is appropriate, and the spool tensioner is not too tight.

I think we changed it a year ago, maybe. We usually replace the tip quite a bit. I'll have to look at the drive roller. Thanks.

My grand fathers had the same problem, turned out the lead that the wire feeds through to the gun/contact tip was twisted and kinked so alot of drag was developed. He replaced it and it works great now.(sorry i dont know actual names of the parts)

Cable liner. You have to treat those with care or you develop feed problems- as you discovered.
