Weird wheel question...

Hi

Bit of a craaaazy query here...

Would it be possible to make a kart using these bad boys:

(I want 30" x 14" tyres to get the look im after)

Now the ones listed are turf tractor tyres, what would be the easiest way to mount them to a frame (ie what hubs?) what about brakes? (They are gonna add a lot of weight...)

Has this been done before on this forum? (Link?)

Your bigger problem (bigger than mounting- much bigger) will be gearing.

What did you have in mind for the driveline?

First off, you'll need 15"dia rims, you're into car territory there, then you need hubs to suit said rims...

....and bearings, but structure is about the main thing to think of when you want "auto crossover" wheels.

Hhhmm so the easiest thing may be to get turf tires, proper tractor wheels to match, and while im at it the tractor hubs too!

As for drivetrain etc im not sure yet... I want a rolling chassis first before i worry about power

I would worry about the engine as well. If you make a chassis without an engine in mind, you will seriously be limiting your options. You have to build a chassis keeping your engine in mind. You need to know where you are going to mount an engine, how big it is, what type of mounting plate you need (industrial engine vs bike engine) etc.....

Bingo- you've got to plan the whole thing as a package, or run the risk of totally painting yourself into a corner. This is a great example. You could build this whole thing with these monstrous wheels, only to find out that using a conventional engine wasn't going to cut it... Now what?
