What's the weirdest food you've come across? ??? Being an International forum. ....this should be fun......

Deep fried Twinkie's. The name alone is enough to turn my stomach.

Ahhhhhh......State Fair food!!!!! Deep fried everything! !!!

Most of the weird stuff I've eaten has been deep fried......

Amadillo....turtle...ratllesnake....gar.......gator.....eel.... (although I have also ate that on sushi).....

Some other stuff......nutria......beaver......squirrel.....

Kim chee (sp?).....basically Korean sauerkraut. ...but made with chilies....instead of salt.......Jerusalem artichoke. ....swiss chard...arugula.....nasturtium flowers and rose hips.....of course. ...one of my favorites. ...cactus. ...

Oh yeah. ...chicken feet!!!! (How could I forget?)...pigs feet....sweetbreads...heart...liver.... (all bird guts and most others)....menudo.... (tripe)..... tounge... (another favorite)....
Of course. ....mudbugs.... (gotta suck the heads).....octopus. ...squid.... (another favorite)...

And some others. ...maybe not so weird....but not mainstream. .....goat....lamb...wild hog and deer....

And 'sids saubraten recipe. .....lol....REALLY good....but definitely different! !!!!

I have not come across it yet, but Balut would have to be the weirdest; I think.

Strangest food I actually ate was fried crickets. That was just weird.

Ahhhh.....didn't even click the link....I know what it is. ....somewhere between a liquid chicken and a pecker.....HEY....I'm talking about a chick...dang....I just keep myself in deeper and deeper......

I've never eaten one....or fried crickets.....but I have swallowed a roach or two that tried to share a beer with me.......

What's the weirdest food you've come across? ......

Being from Japan (Okinawa) and living 'literally' on the coast, I'd have to say the majority of my food was 'weird'. Seaweed, Octopus, raw fish, pickled plums, escargot(sea snails), frog legs, rice cakes w/ soy bean filling, etc, were part of my daily diet. I probably ate more weird food, than I ate beef/pork/chicken combined. I actually never ate a hogdog till I moved to the states... I remember asking what was in it, then not wanting to bite into it after being told. Needless to say, shortly after the age of 12(2 years after moving here), I suddenly stopped eating meat all together... (even the seafood was... 'off') lol. I remember sitting in the kitchen one day as my mom was cooking a beef stew , n thinking . After I grew up I come to find out "I" was the one eating the 'weird' food. (But due to Chinese restaurants... it's not all that 'weird' anymore). Still love me some baby octopus!

... and BTW that Balut isnt all that weird(nothing 'special' bout it either)... but the thought of eating it IS gross... just a different 'texture' than what one would 'expect' from a cooked duck... its basically a boiled egg w/ a hunk of duck meat in it...

Weird is always a matter of opinion that is for sure. Me being from South Florida we love our gator tails and frog legs.
Funny you say that about hot dogs. My daughter stop eating veianna sausage when she learned to read. Lol

All these years in the states.....and you still don't know it's called a hot dog???????.

Still.......you know. ...that's what we ought to call sausage? ????? Hog dog ...I like it.......picture it.....a sausage based restaurant. .......with a menu of worldwide sausages. .. (most of which are either pork.....beef. ....or both...).....

It's just crazy enough to work..........

Really...it could. .......think about it. .....all I want is to eat free "hog dogs".....you can keep the millions. .....

Yup, you just get it on a plate. It is not something I would eat, but people just pull the meat off the skull with their fingers. It is not so common that you see it everywhere, but it is not uncommon either

We also get "Walky talky's". That is chicken heads and feet...
