I felt like I should say this after I realized that myself today. I was cruising for the first time in a while in my yard kart. I was on some trails around a farm field. I spun out on a turn. I went into the bush. My tire caught something, who knows what. The kart ended on my back. I have no rollcage, and cannot add one as it won’t fit in the minivan that I use to transport my kart. I could be dead right now. All I got was a broken steering wheel. If my kart wasn’t held up by a fallen tree or something I could have broken bones, or my neck. Hell I could have crushed my skull. All this if it shifted like 1 foot in a different direction. I wear my mtb helmet when I ride but it doesn’t protect anything but my head. Please be careful. It is nothing short of an act of god that I am writing this. I slow down a lot more for corners. I’m not immortal, you aren’t either. Please be careful, getting hurt (majorly) is selfish when people love and rely on you. Also, wear a helmet since your head is probably the easiest to hurt but also to protect.

Don't know if money is an issue (how can it not be ) but a trailer would allow you to install a roll cage. Glad to hear that you are all right. Sometimes it's a game of inches.

Money is, storage space for a trailer is, and nobody in my family can back a trailer up. I don’t have a license yet, I’m too young. For now i just go a lot more carefully into corners.

Wishful thinking, but folding trailers solve the storage problem as they fold up and rest on little swivel wheels. If you do obtain one (used of course!) refrain from making the floor out of 3/4 plywood. It makes it super heavy and less of a one-man operation.

Backing a trailer is a learned skill that no one is born with. I think it helps if you use your head (look out the rear window or out the side window) and not your mirrors.

Start learning to drive now and get a learner’s permit--are you old enough for a L.P.? Ask Dad if you can go practice in an empty parking lot.
