]well i have been browsing the forum for a month or two and read a lot very informative stuff and all seem helpful.

that being said everyone please note that i suck at typing and have horrible grammar skills, like seriously i can type a 3 page sentence and than i cant understand it myself half the time.

Oh and by the way i have one baja 6.5 go kart that has a predator 212 with no mods not even the governor is removed , that is the 8 yr old daughters kart and the wife says that is too fast already.

i am also building a mini buggy for my older daughter with parts from a quad it is coming along well that is getting the same predator but will be doing the stage 1 and it has a clone torquey convertor thingy for it, honestly this is the precurser that is giving me practice to build a mini buggy for me that will be very close to a small rail i am a big boy so will need more than the predator 212.

in any case that is some of my stuff the wife hates go karts already as i am a craigs list nut and already found 3 parts quads that i just couldn't pass up.

thanks for having the forum i know it will be invaluable in making fun stuff and getting me in trouble. :lolgoku:

Welcome to the forum; good to see you filled in your profile, thanks for that

That little green kart looks cool, I'm loving the swingarm concept, it would be really easy to recreate...

If it's too fast, try adjusting the governor down a bit...

One thing about the quad based buggy: keep in mind that, with the added length, it won't have the best turning circle & the steering geometry will be affected; just a heads up...

On the little one I have used the screw in throttle stop and that works well they have a blast on it, best part of that one is the controls are all on the steering so both girls can drive no problem.

On the big one I am content with the fact that it is a learning curve so will use the mistakes to my advantage, or at least that is what I tell myself lol .

I am enjoying the heck out of it and I can't ride any of them as I am a little to big but someday I will make mine.

Welcome to the forum. ...I really don't like it when people don't use proper punctuation and sentence structure. ....but on the upside.....you're good enough to give fowler some tutoring on the weekends. ....so I guess it's OK.....

Just a suggestion, on the bigger one that Pops (NO disrespect) is on, use the steering components, but redo it all so that you have a better angle for the steering shaft. You can also get some steering shafts with u joints to get more angle, and cheap too. Look over at BMIKARTS.COM I think it was like $20... Fab is right, the steering will blow. If you can, shorten it back by like 6" . Then widen the wheel base a little. The front would be easy, it's the back that limits you on options....

On the little one I have used the screw in throttle stop and that works well

That's not exactly the best idea as it may have a detrimental affect on the clutch:

A centrifugal clutch engages at around 1800rpm but, it doesn't lock until around 2200rpm. Using the throttle stop will extend the amount of time the clutch is engaged but slipping, causing premature wear...

On the other hand, adjusting the governor allows the clutch to lock properly & still lower the max speed

yes i moved the steering to a better angle and plan to extend trying to build on a budget but want to get as close to possible for good steering,

the width to length ratio is off by far but they are both determined. i kept the width of donor quad as that was the axle length, and the overall length is determine on my oldest daughter fitting in there she is 5' 10" and that is were we were for comfort.

figure the rest will work out.

on the little one i think the only way to really slow it down effectively is to gear it down, slowing down with governor would lower the rpm's same as using throttle stop. i dont think this will be an issue for long she is already asking for more power. hehe i love the little one at 8 she is a firecracker.

thanks for the welcome i am hoping to get another project started for my self after the oldest daughters is done i am going to build one of the dune cycles will make with solid live axle but will still be a blast hehe.

Can you send some of that sun and warmth up here to Canada. I'm seriously tired of the cold now. You think 8 is firecracker then wait till 13-18 when she goes NUCLEAR.
