Hey guys I saw a video on YouTube about this kid who had a speaker setup on his Kart. I though it would be cool to have speakers in mine as well. I took two speakers out of the front doors of a Toyota Camry to use as my speakers. I'm wanting to play music off of my phone to the speakers. Any simple ideas? On a short budget and we have parts from old cars and 12v batterys from fourwheelers and stuff. I'm not very good at wiring stuff haha :) thanks.

well i have an idea. get a nice pair of computer speakers that play LOUD. now get a jump start box with a power inverter and plug them in. and hook the input to your phone. should give a good 1-2 hours before needed a recharge

Step 1
Go to local shops

Step 2
Buy ear phones

Step 3
plug ear phones into ears and plug on phone or mp3

Step 4
Press play and ride with music

Sorry if I offend anyone but when u see a $200 car with a $2000 sound system driving around belting out some doff doff electronica people don't aspire to be like them they just get an image of
try hard

Why do you need to have speakers on a go kart? I can see carrying a cell phone if you are going out in the wilderness incase there is trouble.

My version of music whilst riding my kart is the sound of the straight pipe...
If you really want to do it then I would get a small amp that works off 12v and will allow a phone or ipod to plug into it.
Maybe something like this.
Prehaps you need to get a car?

A well running engine is all the music you need :D

:iagree:

You could make your engine as silent as possible. Maybe with an exhaust from a small car? You'll have to volume up pretty much before you'll hear anything + I don't think your neighbours will like the engine's noice PLUS the loud music. It's up to you however.

I think earphones are be the best idea so far, unless you make your engine very silent.

TBH though, music is for entertainment. However, a kart is for entertainment also, so music is not really required IMO, unless you are just showing off :L

Well i live ou in the middle f no where. I don't have neighbors, and you can hear it of its loud enough. I like my music and I wanna listen when I'm riding. That's why I'm asking what else to do... But I guess headphones will work to. Thanks.

On the other hand is must be cool to have a giant subwoofer on your gokart. :roflol:

I did the same thing with my car, super loud system. I prefer to listen to my vehicles for any noises out of the ordinary so i removed the subwoofer and amp. I would turn it on for half a song then shut it off to hear the engine........

But I am used to mechanical noises so i can hear a minor misfire or bearing starting to go out. Much rather save a major catastrophy than listen to loud music while my engine blows.

OP if you want speakers and music then do it. Just do it in a clean neat way that does not look retarded.

I seen some slick stereo setups on bar stool racers and cooler racers but very few on normal karts.

You can use the car speakers IF you have a means of amplification. Your phone won't push them.

Easiest solution? Go find a set of portable speakers that are meant to be used with a phone or IPOD, that take batteries. Plug and play.

You guys don't have to be so sarcastic with the OP. We've all thought of something that would be cool in our own opinion, whether it's practical or not.

I have personally thought of this one, but never decided to do it. I figured I was going to keep it simple and get a cheap inverter to connect to a 12v car battery which I had for lights, the starter motor, and stuff like that. I'd just plug some really loud speakers in to it and use a normal aux cable to plug in to your phone. Sometimes, simplicity is the best thing.

if you have a stereo with an aux input it wouldn't be that hard to do, and you could have radio also. i think it would be cool if say you were riding out to a location for fishing or whatever, you could pull up an park an jam out. here in houston where i live 9 out of 10 things done to cars are useless an simply for the wow factor. i have 22" rims on my ride and 2 15" inch subs in the back.... why?? cuz, lol, im gangsta:cool:

anyways, having a full stereo wouldnt be that hard, but might take up more space than its worth. wiring is simple, so dont let that stop you. if YOU want to do it, then dont let someone else convince you otherwise. its just a learning experience, plus if you do complete it and dont like it, just uninstall. no harm no foul
