Wanting to buy a plasma cutter

I think I'm ready for plasma cutter but hoping to get one for under $1,000, any suggestions?

do you have any major requirements for the plasma. I haven't had any problems with my eastwood 60amp plasma that cost $647.

But if you need cnc ports and such, or high frequency wont work for you then the eastwood wont work.

Depends entirely on what you need. If you're just looking for a base model ~30 amp unit, there are countless brands under $1000.

If you need remote trigger and interchangeable torches (like for cnc) you'll be hard pressed to find a new unit in the price range you're looking for.

Does it have to be new? Looking for used units locally could net you way more machine for your money. Machine torch capability, multi-gas options, higher capacity, etc.

I can get a very very barley used Lincoln Pro Cut 55 for $1,000, good deal? I don’t have a specific need for it at the moment but want one for general purposes, maybe cutting 3/4” mild steel at the tougher end

General rule of thumb for plasma cutting is 1 amp per ten thou for clean cut. You can sever thicker than that, but most cutters will have a separate clean cut and sever cut rating.

Wow plasma cutter's are expensive on your side of the pond..
I can have a 50Amp machine around here for 160€ new (USD ~190)
for that kind of dolares (1k) we talk about 120 Amps here..

Any chance you have a 220Volt outlet anywhere near (or could have one installed?)
if so.. order overseas, I guess the additional oomph might come in handy one day
(5yr warranty isn't that bad either, is it?)
even better, have a 400V three phase outlet installed and buy a pro unit (much cheaper in comparision; at least around here)

check AvE videos on portable plasma cnc... (that crazy canadian dude with the gentle voice and foul language ) really worth to watch.. I never needed and likely never WILL need a plasma cutter.. but ever since I saw that I want one
