If you're looking for a series 30 and not willing to do research I've got a new in box series 30 drive/driven assembly with backing plate, belt, cover etc commonly known as the TAV2 assembly for 350$ and 25$ shipping, this is our last Comet brand assembly.

Dude thanks for the offer but I can get a torque converter new, for 250 or so.

Trying to find used since price may be cheaper and aslong as it works then that is all I need.

Cool deal, I thought I would offer since you posted the question here. I havn't seen a new Comet assembly go for that price in well over a year however.

I was mentioning the last actual Comet brand assembly we've got in stock, I've seen tons of Chinese copies go for lower pricers but not Comet...

I find it hard to believe that one with better quality than Comet will ever crop up using their same design, for my money MaxTorque is the same quality and nobody really considers using their clutches. One thing that I must question is that why any company who takes pride in the fact that their product is American made would not stamp their information in the main plate in the drive clutch or the aluminum hub on the driven place. Any torque converter I see without made in USA and a location on the clutches themselves will be considered poor quality.

i agree with fowler plus thers plent of stuff made places other than the us that are of excelent quality. i was thinking of getting a max torque but my setup would work best with a mounting plate setup

Not everything made outside of the US is bad. (be nice we have aussies here). Think about cars. Hondas? Mitsus? How about Suzuki bikes? I think we need to distance ourselves from our jingoist ways and broaden our horizons giving some other place a chance at TC's. There's a reason Comet went under anyways.

I agree with you all, when you say there are other contries out there with good product. For say, I got a honda clone made from china, and if you think about it Honda is a china brand, so pretty much you are using out of the state product.

I look at it this way, if the product is going to work why not give it props.

I know, thats why I said that.

I havn't yet, I pretty much am willing to try anything that is a tc, But since I am not starting my project till winter time, I am trying to get a good deal.

Has anyone made there own tc, or is it pretty much the same price to buy new to make one your self?
