Mine is a 1961 frame with the depression in the seat for the round dome fuel tank and has had the front axle replaced with a '62+ axle.

The 1961 Fox has square ends on the front axle spindle hoops. The floor was either flat or has raised ribs in the floor pan. Also note that the steering hub is welded on mine.

Fox had a front axle replacement kit and they had the rounded end spindle hoops like mine. The front axles were always being bent back on the left hand side when they were raced.

The other telltale is to measure from the rear of the seat back tube to the rear of the frame tube. 1961 karts were 15 inches and all others were 16 inches.

If it measures 16 inches from the rear base of the seat hoop, where it welds to the frame, to the rear outside of the frame it's a 1962 or later. There were some 1962 karts built with a welded steering hub but not too many because they were outlawed by the karting orgs.

The plastic seat back had a depression for the round aluminum tank for the 1961 model year only. When the plastic see-through tank went into production they modified the tooling.

They were one of the first karts to incorporate the flex of the frame into their steering design.

Some had solid steel pans with supports (see pic) but I'm not sure if any Foxes originally had a solid steel pan like mine does.

The early '61 had fixed mounts, the late '61 models had swing mounts. The '62 models had a different style front bumper, radius cornered spindle brackets and swing mounts. Yellow, Candy Red and Candy Blue were the colors available for 1961 models.

Uhhh ....... that's about all I've got.
