yes the powertorque is the half crank from mid '80s onwards. I have heaps of engines but i want a brand new short block. Most mower shops will have a couple in their parts inventory/will know how much to order from victa. It works out similar/cheaper than a rebore + oversize piston + rings + new conrod + new crankshaft + bearings etc.

New one's are crap, they're made in China now. Cracked heads are VERY common, they wear out extremely quickly too.

Rebuilt short blocks are a much better option. Over here they're cheaper than getting someone to rebuild it.

With powertorques, basically the closer the cooling fins on the block are together, the older the engine is.

well i wont be using a new head as im only buying a short block. If you rebuild an old one with new parts then those parts are chinese/taiwanese anyway

edit: over here it costs 80-100 to rebore. Then to buy piston + rings + conrod + crankshaft bearings etc(maybe a cranshaft and crankpin aswel) is another couple hundred. So it works out the same as buying a new short block. If you payed somebody to assemble then it would be more expensive

ediedit: i just wana know how much a short block retails for in ausi. We get ripped off on everything here. Briggs engines cost double what they cost in the states
