You could run a Right angle gearbox, Your best bet, Or using the same transmission they use in racing mowers. <- dont last long.
I have tried using my vertical opposed twin several different ways, You will be better off trading it for a horizontal engine. I eventually did, its just a pain, more complicated, less reliable, and You loose a lot of power through all the belts, chains and rotation changes.
If your going to do it though, Just get a right angle gear box, Theres some on ebay, I just bought one, their industrial, heavy duty (mine was 40bucks). And Run chain, or cogged belt to that from the engine. Don't V-belt it. I believe thats your best and cheapest option for the vertical motor.
Your best option overall, however, is to just sell it for a horizontal motor.
