Vertical Lawnmower

Hi, I've got an old push-mower engine, but I'm worried it might not be powerful enough to build a go kart. I plan to use a RAGB to solve the vertical problem, but I don't know how much horsepower my engine produces and I'm worried its not enough. Please help me! I need to know if a push mower is powerful enough to make a go kart out of.

Honestly, we can't tell without knowing what engine, what type of kart etc.

So the smalles push mower engine I know has 0.7HP if you want anything faster than 1mph that is not nearly enough.

The biggest push mower engine I have seen so far is 5.5HP and that is enough to make a street kart, you will need more than that to make a decent off road kart or two seater.

So, post pictures of the motor for us to identify
(lots of pictures, all angles, good light, crisp well you know)

And tell us about the kart you intend to build.

I plan to build a street kart for sure. I know that the engine is a Honda, but thats it. I plan to post pics within the next couple of days

I know B&S push mower engines are usually 3.5hp, Honda's are usually GXV120/140 so, around the same hp.

I built my daughters kart on a 3hp B&S but, it's geared low (around 12:1) so, it's possible but, you'll have to sacrifice either speed or acceleration

This may sound like a stupid question however you haven't mentioned it:

Is the mower engine 2 or 4 stroke?
