Hey, i was wondering if i could use the lawnmowers gearbox and put sprockets on the gearboxs shaft and have the sprockets on the shaft attached with a chain to a sprocket on the drive axle, would it hold up?

Okay, Look here. Most rear engine mowers came with gear boxes that ran to a live axle. First you need a clutch like a lawn mower that disengages the belt. Next you need a pulley size for your go-kart. So bigger in the front smaller in the back. A good example would be a 7 inch on front and 3 inch on back. Next you need a sprocket from the gear box to the axle. EC DIST - LAWN MOWER RACING sells this setup. for the gear box. Then I am pretty sure you know you need a sprocket on the axle.

Yes it is I will try to get pics of a clutch for you....

HERE YOU GO!

As you see the clutch is engaged and when he pulls the clutch the belt will lose all the tension.

RYF's cart has a live axle making the differenal part non-effective. So if you set the wheels up seperatly it would be as if you still had the differental making it easier to turn.

o, ok, i didnt know it was that simple, and im planning on doing a live axle and some setup like ryf, but are those the stock belts on ryf's? because they seem a bit shorter than the stock ones
