Valve/spark plug/ pressure issue

So im trying to set my valve lash, and when I thought I had it right, I put my spark plug back in, and all of the sudden the engine is super hard to turn over when it reaches a certain point. When I take the plug out, engine spins nicely when I pull the cord. W t f??

Pretty sure my timing is ok, as the plug is sparking against the frame. But it isn't sparking on its own contacts when I hold it away from the frame.

The engine is ground for the sparkplug. So thats why it sparks on the side of the block...
Whats is the engine??? clone?

It will only spark against the block.

I would set the valve lash again, just to make sure

Alright, but why does the pull cord suddenly become super hard to pull when I put the spark plug in, but it spins easily when its out?

It all has to do with compression in the engine. If valve lash isn't correct, the pressure release might not work and the engine will feel very difficult to pull

If it is a clone, they have a little doohickey that trips the valve at a point when just pulling by hand, on the side of the cam shaft near the gear...
