Hey everyone, I have a pretty typical non-hemi 212 build with a 265 cam in it. I’ve set and triple checked my valve flash several times and made sure it was at .003 and yet it still has very tough spots when I try to pull start it and it often yanks the cord out of my hand as if the lash was set incorrectly. What could be causing this and what can I do about it? Thank you!

Make sure you are at the top of the compression stroke before you start to pull. Then, don't ***** foot around. Pull hard and completely through. If you can't do that, then you've either installed the cam incorrectly, or you're setting the exhaust valve on the compression release and not the actual seat. Does it run? Or are you not that far along yet.
