hey, this is my first post and i was wondering what i would have to do to make a briggs v-twin lawnmower engine to a horozontal shaft. i know how to mount the carb. i was wondering what i would have to do to inside the engine to make it run. this would make a sick mini chopper with a big rear tire and strait pipe exhaust. i just need to figure out if i need an oil slinger and if so how to make one.

you could just run 40:1 mix to ensure that the engine is being oiled.
There's good advice, and then there's this.
Don't.
On a two-stroke, the mix circulates in the crankcase, lubricating the bottom end. In a 4-stroke, this does not occur. The above advice WILL result in a v-twin anchor.

My thoughts exactly but I would be curious to see what happens if he did it...

Youtube moment. "How I @55banged a perfectly good motor!"
Alternate title "I Shoulda Paid Attention In Auto Shop"

Sorry if I seem a little harsh, here folks. But you gotta watch what advice you give. What if this poor fellow had said "Oh. Okay, thanks!" And then proceeded to blow up his engine 'cause he took your word for it?

it is a 14 hp vanguard engine from an old craftsman mower. in the mower it sounds like a harley lol.:drool5:

dang it sorry we cant help you with engines that sound like harleys... we can only help on engnes that DONT sound like harleys.....

you need to be a lil more specific here with the engine model number and code and what not...

how old are you? just wondering

yea i just need my own welder. im stuck using one down the street,
i also had a yz85 for a while and i have done 4 top end rebuilds and one bottom end so i am pretty experienced with that. i sold it because i was sick of paying $120 every 4 months for pistons.lol

Sounds like a great idea. Extra carbon buildup, and no bottom end lubrication! WOOHOO

Seriously though, you'll have to make a rod dipper, and drill/tap a new oil fill hole, rotate the carb, and make a custom motor mount for it.
