Used 5hp Go Kart Motor

I just bought a used 5hp Go Kart for $100. Needs some work, and I have no clue what Im doing hahahaha. The motor runs but there is gas leaking out of the silver canister under the gas tank. What is causing this? How much would it be to take this into a shop and have it gone through?

I'm guessing you mean the carburetor. Post a pic or two indicating where the problem is.

Im pretty sure its a 3.5hp wich prolly wont even move that big go kart. CRAP He told me it was a 5hp

Do not destroy that carb!!! It is fully adjustable and is almost impossible to replace.
Engine will be fine on a gokart unless it's big enough to have a suspension, in which case it would NOT be a gokart.
