I can't tell you speed without knowing your tire size (11" tall 13" tall???) ,what your clutch tooth count is, and your axle tooth count. You tell me this..... And I'll tell you how fast..... I will give you an example.....
Yard kart with 13" tires, 10 tooth clutch and a 60 tooth on the axle will get you 23mph @3600 rpm (engines stock MAX rpm) ....
Play with this calculator.....http://www.diygokarts.com/speed-calculator.html
Don't think you're gonna get 50mph cause the calculator says you can...... You can not sacrifice power for speed. You will kill your clutch. No bigger than a 13" tire with a cent clutch either. Bigger tires, means you need a torque converter.

Ok for tires, do you want tread or slick? How wide? What's the purpose of the kart? (street-off road- dirt and grass?)
Your ideal gear ratio is 6:1, but depending on the kart and it's use, you might be able to run as low as 4.8-5.2:1..... It all depends.... Need more info.....
Tooth count also depends on the kart and it's intended use..... Need more information.....
As far as the bike engine goes.... This is your first build right? Do you want to live to see a second one? Learn from your mistakes with a less powered kart. You WILL have mistakes, we all do. I've been messing with karts for 25+ years. I'm a machinist by trade, for 20 years..... I do ALOT of measuring. Monday I made a new engine mount plate. I was off on the center line by an 1/8" !!! STILL don't know how, but it was off and the slots had to be widened on one side so engine would fit....
Point is, you're gonna screw up somewhere..... Let's make it on a slower, not AS dangerous as a atv ,typical kart. When your skills improve, and your common sense, then you step up to more power. By then, you should have more respect as to what this "little go kart engine" can/will do..... And will understand what I'm talking about..... O,my little 5.5hp gx160 is putting out like 9+hp...... Not so little anymore.....

Sorry guys by not giving enough information, i am using the kart for racing and drifting in a homemade huge track which me and my friend built since him and his family live and a big farm... So i am not going to kill myself since there will be no cars or other karts on the track....

Calvin, don't get the idea we are a bunch of old farts giving you a hard time. We aren't, we will be glad to help if you provide the info we asked for in order to give you a good answer.
We also don't want to see you hurt.
Don't think that just because you are on track by yourself you can't get dead. Parts failure and improper construction cause as many accidents (probably more) than crashing with another kart.
Listen to the advice you're given and you'll be ok.

Well....even though I work with wood....we use dial calipers. .and generally hold all measurements to less than 1/64" tolerance if possible. ...

A couple of days ago. ...I built a simple shoe rack and missed by an INCH

I had a 75" tall unit with a 2" toekick and a 3/4" bottom shelf.....so I was supposed to divide the leftover space to make 2 equal openings. ...so....some quick math in my head......75"-2 3/4""= 72 1/4"÷ 2= 36 1/8"......So I hook the top and pull the tape down and mark 36 5/8"?.??????? How....why....IDK.......

So now I have a mark at 36 5/8".... (hooking the top edge)......and I already have the bottom shelf laid out so I "burn" an inch... (put the one inch line on the drawn line)......Now the second brain fart.....it measures EXACTLY. 36 5/8"...so I think I have nailed it and don't give it a second thought. ....and measure 3/8" on either side of that mark......it was already built by the time I caught it.....and as a 3 month rookie...would never have made this mistake. ....but as a 20+ year veteran.....was easy.....:mad2: :mad2::mad2:

What's this huge track like...is it a loop like NASCAR. Or is a like a rally track (tight corners and chiccanes). If it's the later I'd get 200cc 6.5-7 HP and gear it according. On a centrifugal clutch with a big engine on a tight track were your constantly slow, fast, turn, fast, slow...you'll justmelt the clutch....
