I broke down and bought a nice AXE controller and went 48 volts. It would spin the tires with one person or lift the front wheels with two. I liked it.
Then the sudden and not entirely unexpected smell of destroyed motor filled my nose.
SO..I got pissed off and bought a MARS ME0709 motor and AXE4844 controller

Lol. You were already over-exerting the motors with the huge load already. I have a 750W motor on my electric mini-chopper. You had about 700W and ALOT bigger of batteries and a load. You need 1500-2000w to haul that around.

yeah..it started out alot smaller.
This ME0709 will haul this thing around like its feathers.

Wow. 7,200W continuous.

I envy you. GIMMIIEEEEEEE :D

Haha, it's a good motor. 48V ain't gonna gear you mean 7.2kW though. Maybe 3-4kW. Still, plenty. MAJOR power sucker for those batteries though.

Its geared down to 7 to one. It should not be slamming the batteries too hard if I keep my foot out of it.
I hope for 1.5 hours of non continuous use. I hate to have to throw more batteries at this thing. I want to keep the weight down.

Ray..if you go back and look,I was always using the diff..Just not the traditional way. I hope I dont snap the diff...it looks kinda cheezy to me..Any of you ever use the Northern differential?

Oh I know, but you had a sprocket on each side. So its using the diff like normal now.

If it snaps its your fault for mocking me. I take paypal!

I just hope it stays glued together.

Lol. A motor has alot of torque, that'd be my main concern. You're virtually bypassing the clutch. A engine would take the strain out on the clutch if needed, the motor? With all that torque, the differential! Yay!

Haha... so yeah. Hey Matt, any experience in rebuilding motors? Literally rebuilding?

*Respect* (Is there a bow down emoticon?)

Haha, weill I "burnt" my 750W motor doing 60V. I sware, you pour water on it right after a good run, she'll sizzle. And I always SMELLED something burning after riding! (And I'm a good 3-4 feet away from the motor)

Well... took it apart, it's not too black (definitely doesn't look new lol), and it semms that I ran this motor sooo hard, the epoxy they put on the windings to keep them still actually roasted and burned off! There were pieces of it all over the motor.

I got the golf buggy going with the new motor today.
It will roast the tires and if on dry pavement it will hang the front tires about 2 inches in the air..I sure wish I had a video camera that was digital.(mine is old school video)
I would love to post a video of this thing rolling.
