Fascinating. So a Yerf Dog came with a kick-start?
I think I might have worded my response incorrectly..
what I was trying to say was:
that motor model/partnumber could well be the original engine partnumber.
The kickstarter is part of most all gy6 engines and could surely be left off for go karts (hole plugged usually)
So yes likely a replacement engine, not the one that came with the kart.. but still it might be IDENTICAL to the original one.
Ok think it is a 2 stroke by looking at the cylinder head. I dont see a valve cover not placed to adjust valves. But I could be wrong as I'm just starting my research on this cart. Here is some more pics for you all to help me fig out model of cart and what engine it has and my options.
I still can't tell I'm afraid..
I know it's crowded in a kart's rear end and I can tell you did your best to get the shots needed holding your phone in all the most awkwarded ways just to satisfy my request.
but with the pic's orientation all over the place and the shots so close that you can see
not much more than a single cooling fin and a head nut...
it's still quite difficult to be precise..
So let's try this backwards..
the kart appears to be a yerfdog 40000 to me
judging by the rear brushguard mount and -I'm afraid to say so- the engine
http://www.bmikarts.com/PDF/40000.pdf
with that manual at hand, the engine looks a ton like yours in the pictogram and as you can see the second tank (oil?) is also depicted in the manual..
at least we're very very close, right?
Now.. looking around I found this :

see? looks a lot like your engine, not?
(heck it even has the kick starter in place *giggle*)
So with that pic of a confirmed 40000, your motor number and the manual
(asking you to fill in 2 stroke oil to the second tank)
I think we can safely assume you are correct, it is a two stroke engine,
landuse is also correct in assuming it to be a gy6'esque engine
And we can tell reasonably surely it's a 90cc two stroke gy6
Oh why a 90cc you might ask?
well your motor number is
GM "
1PE50QMF-2"
that's why
