G'day guys, So I finished my go kart as most of you know and when I was driving around I was controlling the throttle by leaning over the seat and reaching behind.. very dangerous.. so before I let my gf ride on it I have to hook up the throttle.

I have no idea where this carby is from, It was given to me by a teacher, if anybody has any pictures of how this carby's throttle was origionally set up would you mind posting the pictures up please.

If anybody has any ideas on how I could set up my throttle better then is current please post a comment.

Thanks!

Looks like you just need to connect up a throttle cable similar to your string in that one pic, and then make a mounting bracket to hold the cables housing.

You'll find several throttle hookup parts to give you some Ideas for building yours in this search link: http://www.google.com/search?source...1T4DMUS_enUS221US222&q=go+kart+throttle+parts

Is that green pull handle your choke?
If so, I was thinking your carb seems to be mounted backwards...

yeah its acting as a lever so when I push on the peddle from the front, the lever pulls the string which then increases the air intake through the carby.
It's very hard to explain XD

Thats a very old victa carby, they were on the 125s and the 1st 160cc engines(probably a 125, all the 160s i've come across with that carby have metal float bowls). There should be 2 bevel gears in that little square opening and where you have the brake pad there used to be a windvane governer with the throtle incorperated into it.

OR there is another version of this carby which simply has a throtle arm on the side of the carby we cant see in the pictures, it has a different butterfly that only opens about 2/3rds of the way instead of having a governer.

There may be more vairiations but i havn't come across them yet.

I can post some pictures of them if you would like?

Could you please post a pic of the other side of the carby?

And for those who don't know, the little red button is the choke, it simply pushes the float down which floods the carby, such a brilliant idea! It works so well!

Good luck with your victa kart! I can't wiat till I can start mine! (too busy building karts for other people :( )

Thanks

Hayden

G'day thanks for that info, I didnt realise that the carby was actually off a victa, I thought it was off a bike or something.
Anyway I have two of them, both are different models that you explained above.
I wasnt sure which one to use.. the one with the plastic float at the botom or the one with the metal float at the botom, I'm not at home atm but I will take a picture of the second carby I have and hopefully you can give me some more information.
Would you mind posting any pics that you have of the carby or feel free to pm them to me.

Thank you I appreciate it.

Heres some pictures of the two different kinds I've got. Sorry about the crappy pics, my camera is out of action so I had to take them with my phone camera, whch is pathetic... I'l try and get some better pics up as soon as I can. I'l also clean them up. I'm happy to take them apart and take pics of the innards for you. Unfortunatly I dont really have any more info on them, its only really the things I know from taking them apart. You can ask victa questions here but generally if you ask anything more technical than the bore and stroke then they say they can't tell you, basically because they think your going to make copies of thier engines and sell them...... I'l be getting a victa workshop manual (not made anymore so thier bloddy hard to get) as soon as I can so hopefully that will shed abit more light on the subject.

125 carby, came off this mower.

125 carby and one off a 160cc self propelled mower.

And agian... (note throttle linkage on 125 carby)

And agian......

Heres the govener and the throtle link age thingy, which should be facing toward the middle of the carby and is slightly broken.

Edit: Wow, just realised how bad that last pic is, I'l post another (hopefully better) picture of it tommorow.

Looks to me like you need to mount some kind of throttle arm on the throttle shaft, that nail, (or whatever it is) doesn't look too safe.
