Hey all. I'm a 19-year-old college student at the University of Florida, Gainesville, originally from the Seminole County, FL area.
I got into karts when I was allowed to pick a senior project in high school, and naturally I picked a difficult one. I'm interested in classic cars, but I don't have that kind of cash yet, so karts were the natural course to go.
My first build taught me welding and metalworking and the like, and I ended up with something fun to ride around on my grandparents' private dirt road. Originally tested the kart on my street, and it's as good a street machine as a dirt runner. Even took it around the football field track at my school. I built it over a course of 3 months in my garage and driveway, and when I took it for the first drive, several neighbors came out of the woodwork. Instead of threatening noise complaints, though, they were amazed to see what I had been building for the past 10 weeks.
Whenever I get another break, I'm definitely cooking up another version of my kart, hopefully with some suspension and a body, like I'd originally planned. The forum has taught me a lot, and I've definitely caught the karting bug.

Welcome to the forum

I see you went for function over style (it's not the best looking kart now, is it) but, as long as it works, it's not bad for a first build, well done
