While sitting here watching the news and surfing the forum, I had a personal first happen; while flossing between two rear molars, one of my dental crowns just popped off, and landed on my tongue. :censored:  :mad2:

Needless to say, it has my attention. Called the dentists office, got the after hours emergency #, talked to the dentist on call; basically "Call the office in the morning"....

I've cleaned and bagged the crown itself. It's one of the first one's I had to get done (about ~20 years ago) made of gold (another good reason not to lose it!!!). Can they just reinstall the dang thing, or do I have to jump thru all the hoops all over again?

Any ideas?

Most likely it's no big deal. In the meantime- go to Wallgreens or CVS and they have temporary cements to reattach them. Make sure you have it correctly oriented first- put it back on and figure out which end is the front.

Beats the heck out of tongueing that stump- and good for about a week.

Thanks Doug; like I said, I'm not in pain, and it's close enough to my bed time that I think I'll let it ride 'till morning. Also, the roads around here are :censored: horrible ATM; my little at home digital thermometer said the high at my house today was ~20*F; that was the air temp. We need to get the ground temp closer to that before salt will start really working on the roads again....:surrender::surrender:

The joys of heredity; Dad's side of the family has pretty decent teeth; Mom's side? There's a reason she just said :censored: and had a full set of dentures in her freshman year of college....

My brother and I are in the middle; trying to hang on to our real teeth as long as we can....:surrender::surrender:

No doubt I would still have all mine- did 6 years ago. It was the 38 radiation treatments that did them in.

:surrender: :surrender: :surrender: My cousin has been in remission from lymphoma for almost 13 years; she was diagnosed about 8 months after her son was born. And she says that the Chemo was hell, the radiation was worse; what she says really ground her down was when her doctor scrounged up a dental office lead X-ray half vest for her so she could hold her son once or twice a day at home.....

As far as my personal dental adventure, a quick but detailed exam w/ X-rays, a troll thru the dental tech archives to try and figure out what glue they used when I got it in the first place, and a couple of tries to find what would stick, the old crown is back in place. My cost, out of pocket, since the temp service I'm working thru lost half of my insurance paperwork, leaving me with none ATM? $112.00.

This baby is now classified as a temporary; they told me that ~ 10% of the failure was tooth decay/ weak teeth, with the rest of it basically being the fact that crowns and fillings aren't permanent fixes. They're only long term repairs, and since I've had this one ~ 18 to 20 years, they think I've done pretty well.

I could go on, but most folks are going to look at this thread (if they look) and run screaming.....:surrender::surrender:
