nice.. I'm gald it's still "bare metal"
(I think clear coated, right? I mean it's still SALT flats, is it not?)

Anywhoo.. I still love the look of it.. a pure mechanical grunt inducing bike.

too bad Kelly had taken the Wachtmeister apart...
those two would've looked nice together :D
*sigh*

PS if you want me to merge this with the original thread, just say so.

Thanks Sid. The frame is still bare metal and after I take it out on the lake bed I always hand wash it and wipe it down lightly with WD-40 and then I wipe the WD-40 off before I take it back out again.
I am going to rip it back down and polish up the bare metal a bit and then clear coat the frame. I would have liked to have had a picture of Kelly's Wachtmeister and the Bonanza together.
Yes you can merge the original thread if you like. Thank you.

cool.. pure metal... thumbsup for the extra effort! it still looks great.
I've seen painted frames with more rust that are even younger than this mini.

threads merged :D

Thank you and all is fantastic! The mini bike is still not completed to my liking and I will finish it off here soon. I have been very busy since I retired and I don't know how I had time to work before. I spend a lot of time doing many of the other fun things that I like to do and I have more projects upcoming and I will post them here.

I finally got around to swapping out the wide rear tire on this thing to a narrower one.
Now after testing I do not have a rear chain derail problem after the rear tire hits a rock or something else. The wider tire's sidewall would bulge out enough after hitting a object and it would derail the chain because of how close the rear sprocket was to the rear tire sidewall.
Problem solved!

How hard to keep the front end on the ground?
You have to be careful taking off if there is good traction because the front end will lift. That is what makes it fun. Kind of like one of my dirt bikes as they will do the same thing.

I am soon going to tear this thing all apart and paint the frame. I do not know what color I am going to paint it yet but I think if I clear coat the frame I will not be able to tell when the finish gets scratches in it very easy and then the bare metal would be exposed to the elements and rust. I want to keep the frame rust free for as long as I can and look good.

Is this the engine you said might be getting a curved up "dog pile" expansion chamber exhaust? Not sure how one attempts to design something like that without advanced degrees in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and wood-shop dynamics.

You are correct Bob. I lost my tuned exhaust pipe software due to my old computer crashed. I am going to purchase new software and make the pipe for this thing. I have everything to build the pipe as I have built them before. That is why I state in the video that there will be more updates on this thing as I am not done with it.
