Hi hi, so I have 2x identical 250W electric motors lying around. What I'm wondering is if I hook both of them up to a single chain, and power them at the same time, would it give me twice the power (or near twice), or would it just blow up?

Yes, I know about powering each wheel with its own motor, I'm just thinking of things...

Thanks!

Twice the speed? No. Twice the power/torque? It's just not calculated that way.

It's just the same thing that you can't add the 4 cores on a Quad and call it like 9.6GHz or so.

it should give you more power, this is if you have them at equal power. but this is theroy and i think you should try it, start with one and then rig up the second and see if the power or speed or both increace.

speed won't increase because no extra rpms, or maybe it will help it reach like 2 mph more.. amd phenoms scale @ 3.75 instead of being an assumed 4.0. so i think two motors would be more like 1.65... got alot of batteries?

IF the motors are running the same rpm in the same direction relative to the drive shaft, your torque output will be doubled.

If you drive a wheel with each motor, the cart will experience the same thing, just the wheels will not be tied together with a common shaft.

Idea!

Get treads and hook one motor up to each set of treads, then set up both throttles independently, and then you have a tank.
