I purchased a cart that has been sitting out for many years because owner couldn't get it started. My question is are the kill switches when working properly supposed to be closed, same as connecting two wires together?? Neither switch has continuity unless holding them in .
Turn over good but no spark.

Kill switch should have continuity to ground when "holding it in".
An ignition switch, depending on the ignition system, may ground the coil in the OFF position or disconnect power to the ignition in the Off position.

It is a 2009 carbide 150 and kill switches have blue and green wires. I have tried with wires off and connected together but no spark.

Can you post any pictures of any part of it? Engine, frame, switches, wiring, etc...
have you tried a new spark plug? How long did it sit outside, and was it assembled or disassembled while it sat outside?
Are there wires pulled loose and possibly unplugged?

No one here will know that buggy by heart much less its wiring because it's an overly complicated chinese product with a generally low build quality. We ask for photos because they speak a lot more than a paragraph ever could. We have folks here with expert eyeballs that can pick out issues that you might miss.

China buggy with a gy6 type engine im gonna assume.
Check for a brake safety switch, a neutral safety switch. Even a seat belt safety switch.
Switches can be either NO normally open or NC normally closed. It depends on how it's being used as to which one they used.
Check to see if the switch is operational with a continuity meter.
Most of the time those will break connection to the starter and it won't even crank.
Id look at the connectors. They are prone to the pins pulling out of the plastic end pieces when messed with too much. Inspect the ones to the CDI box and coil.

Thanks for all the ideas. I don't know a lot about this thing except the owner passed away and his wife put on an auction. It sat out for many years after he couldn't get it to start, but was all together. I'm an old fart in Nebraska and just bought for a project. I ordered a cdi box and coil and will go from there when they get here.
