Me and my brother have had an old cart with a frame and a 5 horsepower briggs 206 CC engine. and we decided to see if we can get it running. kinda spur of the moment.

We got half way into the engine and we Might be getting another cart almost identical. neither carts have suspension, they are both in kinda crappy shape but we repainted/rebuilt one cart/engine. the engine runs fine we just need to clean the carb.

We also have a Car turbo and a Supercharger off a 90's thunderbird. My brother has alot of experiance with engines and we are going to put the turbo on his. and the Supercharger on mine.
The turbo one will have all the coolant lines and everything needed.
The supercharged one will have a Torque converter with an extra pully to run the super charger at lower RPMs to start, and we will "tune" it to our liking. this is a big project and We need ideas/input.

I will be adding pics of my cart tomorrow.

THANKS

Want size engine did the turbo and supercharger come off

U may find 5 ho isn't enough to spin a turbo and may not have enough power to run the super charger

The turbo is off a 4 cyl subaru. the supercharger wont be ram at max RPMs. we know it wont go to its full potential but we gonna use a torque converter to get it to run. imma make a diagram and post it cause i know im not making any sense :p

OK. this is just an idea, we gonna play with it to get some extra power and we know it will take some effort and prolly some trial and error but let me know what u think

the turbo im using is a oil and coolant cooled vf-11 turbo. off a 91 subaru legacy

the supercharger is off a 89 ford thunderbird

for the turbo im only aiming for 3-4 lbs due to lack of exhaust pressure probably gonna use 3/4 inch pipe manifold to connect the engine to the turbo. also thinking about getting a small co2 canister nos kit to help spool.setting wastegate at 5lbs just in case

for the super charger im gomma run a 3-1 pulley ratio from jack shaft to super charger so when the engine is at 2400rpm the supercharger will be running at 7200. if my math is correct that should put about 5lbs of boost into the engine. by passing the waste gate and installing a bov set to 4 lbs

going to install tachometers, air/fuel gauges, and boost gauges on both

only problem im seeing is going to be the fact that without the ability to adjust the fuel. the risk of detonation is high.

also just a quick questing is there anyway to advance the timing safely for a more agressive tune?

im the brother by the way

I think u will find a 5 hp won't put out enough gas to turn over that turbo

And u will need a second 5 hp dedicated to just running the super charger as it will take all that to get it to spin

A few have tryed this but Iv only seen it once pulled off
And they are starting with far smaller turbos

idk about the turbo but i know the engine can put enough power into the jack shaft to turn the pully on the supercharger. it takes almost no resistance to turn it. like i said i know it will be hard to do and take alot of effort. i have nothing but time on my hands to get it rite. and ur prolly rite, it might not be enough to make a difference but we will see. we are also rebuilding both engines (preformace wise) to max the horse power being put out.

i have alot of experience with these turboes.. and it might not. i have never tried on a go kart. but im pretty sure by making the manifold smaller it increases the pressure of the air that is forced into it. i have done this on a different car to get it to push a bigger turbo.

and for the supercharger. it is ball bearing and can be spun by a remote control car motor. there is very very little friction within it. it might not work. but even with a 5lb gain that should almost triple this engines horsepower. with a good port and maybe some over sized valves.

Couple of links for you - maybe you've already seen 'em ?

Turbo Briggs and Stratton - fuel injected - but something to look at nonetheless
note - turbo sizing is important !

This one has IMHO the proper sized turbo - though it's not hooked up yet:

Got a bigger motor for the turbo one. But as for the suprcharged one. It will be hit and miss. Just due to the fact that no one has dobe it so no one has experience in doing so enough to say it wont work

ok update we have 2 bigger motors now. one is off a 84 yamaha moto 4

the other is off an early 80s ski doo. think its a rotax twin. i do not think we will be having problems spinning the supercharger anymore. ^_^

as for the turbo :( i am trading it for the skidoo engine and other misc go kart parts ..
