The Bottom end is done So I started on the head.

I am proud of my homemade follower removal tool.

I ordered new followers and a Crane Cams h-272 grind cam.
Sounds good for me,

Good low and mid- range torque, good idle, daily usage and off road, performance and fuel efficiency, turbocharged performance, 2600- 3000 cruise RPM, 9.5 to 11.0 compression ratio advised

Nice job.
I love building engines.

Thanks!

Should be making some boost.

I am using the port for the egr to mount the injector for water/meth. Hoping to run 12-15psi of boost maybe 200+ hp.

I modified the intake gasket to block off the coolant passage that runs from the head and heats the intake manifold.

And there will be no egr, smog pump, cat, or any nonsense

I got alot of parts on order
water pump
alternator
cap,rotor,plugs, wires
vbelt
coil
carb rebuild kit

There are some 2.3 4X4s with Manuals with M50D-R1 transmissions. I am using a 1991 block with forged diamond Pistons crower rods and total seal rings, a ported big valve head with a modern performance.505 lift roller cam, efi 83lb injectors a 1:1 fuel regulator, Bosch 044 300lph fuel pump procomp distributor but also have a set of individual coil on plug coils and a 36-1 crank setup. Lots of stuff out there for the 2.3 still. Might wanna check out turborangersforum.com for more good info. Good luck with this setup though. Draw thru turbos have carbon seal turbos so not as easy to upgrade, but the vw guys do it and are even having luck with efi draw thru using FITech efi Tbi.

If anyone has an borg warner sr4 shifter assembly I need one bad! Please PM me! It is the only piece I do not have and cannot find or fab. Any 2wd or 4wd shifter for jeeps, fords, ect will work, example pics below.

Time to pull the factory truck motor/trans/transfer case

I have a '72 Pinto with an '86 Thunderbird Turbo driveline (with MegaSquirt EFI) in it. I have often thought that a '79-80 (or whatever) carbed 2.3 would have been a lot easier, but I don't think it would fit under the hood. (nothing does)

Draw thru turbos have carbon seal turbos so not as easy to upgrade,

Sure they are. The "hard" part is finding the compressor seal parts and they're not that hard to find, at least not for Garrett T3s and T4s.

Cool project. That turbo hot side will get very hot. Protect all that is around it. Do you have to fabricate your own cross over and downpipe?

Before you crank it, pour some oil into the turbo oil feed before connecting the line to it.

About ready to start. Need to fabricate the crossover pipe, and clean the carb.

Good luck!

Keep that timing low at first to keep EGTs down. I see one ground strap on the turbo. Be sure there is one going from the head to the frame and frame to battery.

Congrats on getting this far.
