I'm doubtful that it's up to the task. The data says it's originally for a self-propelled mower- not even a lawn tractor, but mower. It's small, light, and cheap. I would suspect it's not very well built an most certainly is built with cheesy bushings instead of bearings. I'd avoid it.

what he said agove and the fact it only has 1/2" axles... not going to cut it...

It is really odd there isn't something out there that would work and be sufficient out of the box for us karters...

Thanks for the advice. Do you guys know of any transmissions available or something I can build for around 30-40bucks? Anything like riding lawnmower transmission. Iv heard of people doing this how would it work?

Mower transmissions can be used but they have to be rebuilt to handle go kart speeds, in my opinion, not worth it.

Don't give up on the tranny idea yet. From what I understand there are a few models of mower tranny that can be made suitable for kart use with minimal modification. As I understand it, the Peerless 700 is one such tranny. If you were to sandbag over on a lawnmower racing forum or two, you should be able to amass more useful information than we can offer on that topic. I will caution you against signing up and posting on one such forum, as they get downright snotty over there if they find out you're planning a "recreational" build. The only thing they will allow is spec-built racing mowers for sanctioned events. Don't ask. Chers!
