I've mostly done roll cages and off road bumpers. I do my bends by myself, a minibike or go kart frame should be butter in one of those. Another plus is that I'm always a beast when I finish a roll cage.

But Isnt minimun wage alot higher there?

Why is that relevant? If something is worth $X, it's worth $X, no matter how much money people earn...

The bigger issue would be the exchange rate; for example, the price in the one linked by FA converts to $397AUD...

I've had my bender for a minute, (wouldn't fit under the gate) but It was ~$59.00 when I got it.

Yeah I got mine for $40 on CL. but I was comparing to New non H.F. special. Against the JD32 in $.

I do remember it took some Learning and practice to get the bends right on their JD32. Also They were doing Roll cages in Off Road Trucks, So larger tubing than 1" go kart stuff. Hence 2 man and a big lever.

In not saying you should pay more, but maybe this is how company's think. This wouldn't be the first thing I've seen double for Australia. You do have some stuff we don't have, like 302 clevelands and the turbo in line six Ford falcons. Not sure if shipping matters but if one of us ordered something and shipped it to you would it be cheaper.

Turbo sixes, you don't even have the Crossflow I6...

On a single item, marginally; shipping on a single item that heavy would be astronomical but, pack a bunch of them in a shipping container & the price per item drops dramatically...

Biggest trick I learned using the JD bender , don't use eyeball to keep bends level with each other on hoops. Level the bender off the main die pin then use level on tube after first bend , an accurate digital level is a big plus compared to the angle guages with needle

The only flaw in that advice is allowing for spring back...

Any time you bend any type/shape metal, you need to allow a few degrees extra because, once the pressure is relieved off the bend, the metal will relieve as well, springing back a few degrees...

Some machines are calibrated to allow for spring back but, not all...

As a cheap option, I picked up a 1/2" 3/4" and a 1" conduit benders and I am using conduit in some ways and a frame in the future. On Craigslist you can sometimes find all three together. I stopped at 1" cause by 1 1/4" it's getting almost past the point of a hand bender although they do make them. So far I have made tent poles, a truck bed canvas topper, and two headers for predators. I spent just over 100.00 for all three and one handle that's interchangeable with the 3/4" and 1/2" benders. The 1" needs a bigger handle. Need a pipefitter to thread a piece of pipe for me for that one.

Conduit is galvanized and you should use a n100 or P100 3m mask when welding or grind the coating off. Flux core or arc welding is a good choice for this material. I bought two bags of filters at a swap meet for 5.00 and should of bought more. I don't want cancer if I can help it. Conduit is cheap and glad I seen it before going another route.

There is a lot of online videos showing how to use and bend with the JD
benders so I didn't get into bending 101 class. just one trick I learned to be able to build like this 4 hoops and one has 6 bends to it

Thanks guys, a few good tips (here & there)

That's it?

We want information, information, information!

Don't make me break out the Iron Maiden! (again) :cornut:

I figured this would be a great opportunity for folks to show off their self designed/self bent frames made out of tube.

Wheres Kartfab?

Don't he make stuff out of tube?

Come on guys, who else?

...or share links :cheers2:
