So today I got home from work and the kids were on me like white on rice about fixing the cart. So I decided to see what I can do (Im no small engine person by no means) so I first start by take off the breather and this is what I find. (I heard yall Love pictures)

I also took a video of it running, But its almost like it stuck in 1/2 throttle and all it wants to do is go, if you hit the breaks it just tries harder. Once the video is on youtube Ill post the link.

Any suggestions? Im thinking a few thing are missing around the carb and are broken off.

For some reason it didnt upload so I posted a link

Heres the video

IMO, the first thing you need to do is get rid of the solid wire throttle cable (as seen in pics 4 & 5)& possible the throttle plate & replace it with a spring assisted "cable"; a bicycle brake cable will do the trick.

The problem is that the solid wire & throttle plate aren't free enough to allow the throttle to return to idle

Looks like a 5 HP Briggs and Stratton on a Streaker. I've got the same set up. Let me know if there are any pics I can add for you. I found a video on Youtube that covered all your governor and carb linkange set up.

I've found a few of these 5hp motors for sale that appear to have all parts and running, so IM thinking of picking them up since they arent to expensive.

if Im not mistaken, which I could be.

in this picture the broken piece is for the choke, Its connected to nothing and the tab is broken.

And none of the switches that control the idle speed or choke is hooked up. It actually looks like everything is gone.

Which could have noting to do with why it dont want to start but once I adjust thing manually it will try to run wide open.

If I could of found a carb and all the missing parts I would of just bought that but it appears buying a complete motor is going to be cheaper, at least by the web site I have been looking at for parts.

I honestly don't use any of the stock linkages for throttle on any of my carts.. Like someone said up top, getting rid of the solid cable and using a bicycle brake line and some spare springs from homedepot you can have a very smooth working throttle for under 15 bucks.
