I know of an old trick for the gaps, mix the saw dust with wood glue till it's a paste, put it in the gap, let it dry, then sand!

Yep, makes a nice pretty black line when you stain it!

I know you are passionate about using those dowels but I hit the wall and said "F" it, this thing is getting done today come heck or high water. The joints are terrible and thats A OK by me. It holds weight. I will stain it tomorrow or maybe even a little later today.

Just stained the bottom and sprayed urethane on the top, will urethane the bottom tomorrow after work then it should be finalized Tuesday with felt "feet" on the bottom. Ready for the party!


I think the imperfections give it character lol

I knew I wouldn't have a need for the scrap and rather than add it to my inventory (some people call it a hoard) I decided to burn them in our fireplace. Probably the most expensive wood I've ever burned lol.

WRONG! I burn up more wood in a month than most folks even use in a year! That's not "expensive" wood...there's less than a dollars worth there...(do the math!)
