Did the brakes on my 2000 ford ranger today. When I changed the pads I notice they did not wear even. One end of the pad it had 1/8" pad left. The other end of the same pad was near bare metal? It was like this on both side and all 4 pads.

Whats gives? I ran enough pads down to bare metal to know this is not normal. Or is it? Dual piston caliper as well.

here's some general disc-brake input, sight unseen.

providing nothing else is wrong, a clean & lube outta do it. at the least, it's the easiest thing to try first.

the screw-in slides that the calipers ride on are prolly crusted/grunged up. you should be able to move the calipers along the slides by hand. spiff everything up with a wire brush, then sparingly coat the motion areas with some white lithium.

service the channels in the brackets where the inboard pads ride, which is another trouble spot, and any anti-vibration clips as well.
