I'm curious, has anyone ever used a truck axle ( rear with pinion and gears ) as a go cart axle? I would assume a fixture would be needed to mount the sprocket to the pinion flange. I ask because I have 3-5 rear truck axles in my garage, some are useless to me as truck parts.

A truck axle will need a good amount of torque to turn the wheels, this precludes the typical engines used in a kart, and the axle (depending on the truck of course, albeit perhaps one of those tiny Japanese trucks) will pretty much out weigh the typical gokart anyways.

I have also considered this, although I was looking at sami axles or old willys. I would run them to axles and a transfer case ant then to a TC powered by a v twin. Some dude build his kid a awesome jeep using sami axles. I believe a 250 motor was used.
