I am in need of a majority rules opinion (kewlness factor... definitely not safety factor)...

I have started a project of taking a racing kart (side mounted engine) and transforming it into 2 separate items of transporting a body. ORIGINALLY, I planned on making 2 trikes... one w/ and one w/out an engine. I have started on the nonpowered one first seeing as that I already know the plan for the motorized one... however, today a friend of mine threw up a jokingly idea at me... "Looks like a Chinese racing rickshaw..." which reminded me of a 'plan' I had several months ago, but got distracted, and forgot... making a "tow behind body dragger". Basically a mini trailer for a person to 'ride' if daring enough... or to haul minor stuff.

So...

A- continue w/ the pedal trike plan...
B- reinvent the plan of a 'rickshaw' of sorts...

ONLY thing that gives me a hint of "better not do it" are the laws of momentum and Newtons 3rd law, in the application of a passenger being 'whipped' around a corner (Ive been known to take a corner at 40~45mph). Im liable to look back after a turn and suddenly not have a passenger anymore... LMAO their all smooshed up in some cars grill parked in the driveway... lol. (Ofcourse I wouldnt drive like a bat outta h3ll if it were my daughter riding... but I have friends that crave danger... lol and I 'think' even this would detour them from riding it... it then becomes a glorified trunk...) hehe

Ok... now yall are just killing the rickshaw plan. No such thing as seatbelts or a roll cage on a rickshaw. Plus Id wanna be keeping it as light as possible(originally they were made of bamboo), adding things like roadrash stabilizers(seatbelts) and springs just kill the whole plan of being mere inches from death as one travels from point A. to point B. as quickly as possible... even if their both in the same place.

There were thoughts of running throttle/brake/steering controls back to it and riding the whole getup like a chariot kinda setup... but then common sense walked in and popped me up side the head and asked WTF?!?!

haha I was just joking a round you should do it! just fabricate a sign "ride at your own risk - Serious injury or death may occur"

I agree w/ the rickshaw idea... but unfortunately, my conscience is clashing w/ my plans/ideas. I acquired a bicycle today and would feel bad if I didnt use it for 'this' build, seeing as that it was given to me specifically for the reason of this build...

... however, due to the popularity vote of a rickshaw, I WILL be making one in the near future (unless something else shiny catches my attention... dam ADD).

Ok... evidently, I didnt do the "rickshaw" plan w/ this frame... but I did make a nifty trike (from what Im told). Ive had to change plans/fabrications on this about 4 times now total, cause I didnt see the particular plan of the time, working out, for me(ei.- engine placement/gearing/clutch/front suspension/wheely bar). I have another frame, now, and will be re-birthing the idea of a rickshaw(unless the frame gets sold before I get to cutting it up). This newer frame (Margay)is larger/wider, and will be a 'better' setup IMO than the other one... for a rickshaw.

It will be a dead axle setup w/ its own set of hand brakes, for the rider (JIC). Im guesstimating the total un-ridden weight will be ~30-50lbs (if that). I already have questions, but will be doing my own homework on them, seeing as that noone seems to have ever made such a thing.

I still haven't been able to find a short length of 10" PVC for sleaves (10' is shortest sold=90-100$). So in the meantime Im setting it up to do wheelies!!! :lolgoku:. Im pretty sure the wheels I configured in will work (solid core rubber). When the wheely wheels make ground contact, the front wheel is 10" off the ground... 'should' be a good enough height to attract attention... lol!
