Heya guys.
I have found a yamaha motorbike engine (manual transmission) that will go into my go kart and i have quite a few questions on how to set it up on the go kart:

1) What mechanism and how should i set up in order to be able to shift into 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear from the front of the go kart since it is normally being changed from the engine?
2) Is it expensive to set up?
3) Is it something realy complicated to do or simple?
4) Shall i use the same clutch as it is from the engine to the handle bar or is it possible to not use clutch and just shift gears only?
5) Is there anything else i should keep in mind if i am using a motorbike engine rather than a normal go kart engine?

Cheers all!

1. i have an idea of how you could make a mechanism, i can make a sketch if you wan't.
2. if the engine is running, and your current parts can handle the new engine it should be as cheap as a few sprockets, some hardware, and some metal.
3. nope, reinforce the kart frame around the engine, make some mounts, hook up a sprocket, throttle ect and you done
4. you need a clutch, you can make a clutch pedal very easily.
5. the power and speed, also your ratios will become slightly more complex to calculate.

Ibrahim, please try to avoid double-posting. I know somebody told you your other post was in the wrong section, but that's not really the case. If it's truly a concern, then a moderator will move it for you.

I have provided some answers in your other thread.
