Ok so i have a pretty good idea for a new cart but I would need a trans axle with the input on the bottom. What models have this if any? If none than could I just flip the axle and rotate it 180 degrees or will it only work streight up? Thanks in advance.

I don't know of any transaxles that feed off the bottom, but some mower transmissions do. If you go that route, you'll need a seperate axle.

Running a mower gearbox of either type will require you to race prep it, and running it upside down might be possible, but it will require you to put some extra thought into keeping the oil in.

OK what exactly do you mean by race prep? The reason I want it all on the bottom is I want to build a front engin cart and I figured routing a belt underneath would be better than doing jackshafts and chains all the way back

The term "race prep" simply means doing a few things to the transaxle or gearbox so it has a better chance of withstanding the workload put on it in a go kart.

If you google the subject you'll find plenty of useful info on what to do and how to do it - could be a load of info on this site too..

As others have said you may have issues trying to run a transaxle upside down.

I'm doing a similar thing ( using a mower transaxle with a vertical engine). When I built my frame I basically built the back end around the transaxle, this way I was able to factor in space for belt & clutch pulleys, shifter linkage etc.

Might be worthwhile getting your transaxle first as they come in all sorts of shapes and sizes.

Hope this helps,
Cheers
