So a friend of mine hooked me up with a honda 350cl bike that had under a 1000 org miles n it too bad it set for about 20 years full of water the top end. is there any way to use the tranny minus the clutch? maybe put a centrificul on a motor and a pulley where the original clutch should be? think a guy did this with a 4 wheeler tranny on here

I don't know if you can do that, we've talked about this before, and it seems like too much work to be worth the time and money it would take to invest. But what I do know for sure is you wouldn't need a centrifugal clutch if you're using the transmission. You would just keep the transmission in neutral when you start your engine, then shift up.

well with the Cent clutch you could sit with it in gear and not bog down and stall out. man there was a what looked like a carter version of a dingo with a 8hp and torque convert and a suspended Yeft with what also looked like and 8hp with a torquer on it at the local auction. The line of people for it was retarded so I just went home and kick my self in the ***.

You would need some sort of clutch, whether it be centrifugal or manual.
Imagine, in a manual car, just slamming it into first from a standstill without using the clutch. Bad things will happen.

I agree with that one guy, it's not worth doing. Try to find a running bike engine.

well i have to bypass the original clutch becase I might have lost all the parts to it cause its been forever since I messed with it thought it had been sent to the scrapper infact I`ll get a pic next week but I`d want to cut it inhalf or at least yank the top end for weight. so iff the sprocket or pulley replaced the clutch I`d think I`d be ready to go

I should clarify, I meant to keep the clutch already in the case.

You would have to cut the tranny away from the engine block, and then find a away to re-seal it to keep the internals in their oil bath.

Best bet? Rebuild the engine.

Id agree with toystory and rebuild it. Youll be much happier with a bike engine.
